Wroclaw General Info

Wroclaw is the historic capital of Silesia. It is one of the oldest and also the fourth largest in terms of city population in Poland. The city is located on the lowlands of Silesia situated on both sides of the Odra, which is the second largest river in Poland.

Odra’s Valley in the city is quite large and that is why there are several smaller and larger islands. Because of the city location and a great number of bridges Wroclaw is called the Venice of Poland.

Wroclaw is the most green polish city – for 1 person there is 25 m2 of green. At the center of town there is founded in the eighteenth century Szczytnicki Park, where is more than 370 species of trees and shrubs and there is a genuine Japanese garden. Designed and maintained in accordance with the principles of Japanese gardening art.

Not less wonderful place to walk is a botanical garden, with its beautiful exhibition of flowers, as well as the Zoological Garden, founded in 1865 representing over 650 species of animals.

Wroclaw has also many monuments to see, especially its large, beautiful old town- completely renovated in the last decade of XX century.

Apart of its sights Wroclaw is also an important road junction, it has an international airport, train stations and a harbour.
