Where is Zakopane
Zakopane is capital of Polish Tatra Mountains. Tatra Mountains are without doubt one of the places where you can experience the beauty and romance of wild and unspoilt natural landscapes. The best way to enjoy its beauty is a visit in Zakopane, a small town which is situated at the foot of the mountains. It's inhabited by mountaineers (Gorale), a small ethnic group for whom this town is home to their culture and customs.
Zakopane in the Past
Zakopane used to be a small village of farmers and shepherds, but in the 19th century was discovered by Warsaw doctor, Tytus Chalubinski, and soon after that the town became home for many Polish intellectuals and artists. Now this region is a getaway from everyday urban life for many Poles and foreigners.
