Zakopane in the Past

Zakopane used to be a village of farmers and shepherds but in the 19th century was discovered by a Warsaw doctor, Tytus Chalubinski, and soon after this became a home for many Polish intellectuals and artists. Now this region is a getaway from everyday urban life for many Poles and foreigners.
