Katowice History Museum

Katowice Museums - Witkacy Statue
Statue of Witkacy
in Katowice History Museum
It's worth to pay attention on the museum's seat. This wonderful tenement house is one of the most interesting buildings in Katowice. Inside there are also few important things to see. Especially two exhibitions are must there. First one is a main - “Katowice History 1299 – 1990”. It contains even times before Katowice get the city rights and shows that it played an important role in Polish history. Second exhibition presents modernism art of regional artists. The most important objects are portraits of famous and controversial character of Polish modernism – Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz called Witkacy. These two expositions are really worth seeing for those who need great esthetic experiences.
