Katowice Transport - City Transport in Katowice

The city Katowice does not have subway. Therefore the municipal transport(buses, trams) is very developed. Almost every area of the town is covered either by buses or trams. There are 200 buses lines and 12 trams lines within Katowice. The municipal means of transport belong to the city. They are still being modernized so for now 1/3 buses and trams is brand new(very comfortable, air-conditioned, easily accessible by disabled persons).

Best mean of transport: Tram – 12 lines of trams are enough to move easily between most important corners of the city. Trams don't stay in traffic jams!

Also good: Taxis – Katowice taxi drivers are very experienced people, who know which way to choose to don't stay in traffic jams. Many of drivers already know a little bit of English so if you're lucky you'll even be able to communicate with your driver.

We don't recommend: Buses – especially during rush hours. Katowice is a part of large and crowded agglomeration, so it's very hard to avoid traffic jams.

At night: Night line buses and taxis – Buses are much more useful at night. They are much cheaper than taxis, however many of them reaches some destinations not directly, so it takes a lot of time. Taxis are much faster and comfortable, but quite expensive at night.
