Krakow
Sightseeing of Krakow is first of all a walk along the Royal Route. The way leads from medieval fortifications, barbican and city walls, trough the one of the most charming streets in Krakow - Floriańska, Old Market Square with St. Mary’s Basilica and amazing Cloth Hall, Grodzka Street, near many important monuments to the major point of city sightseeing - Wawel Castle. Every object that we encounter on our way is really unique and worth to be seen. For example Krakow Old Market Square is the biggest medieval market place in Europe and in St. Mary’s Basilica we can find one of a kind altar made by famous sculptor Veit Stoss, in the end of 15th century.
Even only Wawel Castle is a place for few hours sightseeing. Amount of breath-taking historical objects that we can find there is simply enormous. For the greatest attention deserve Sigmund’s Bell, Royal Treasury with medieval insignia of Polish kings Royal Crypt and Dragon’s Den.
Another important place in Krakow is Kazimierz - historical Jewish district. This is the only place in Poland and one of a few in Europe where we can find synagogue and church on the same street. Monuments with the key meaning for Kazimierz are synagogues. There are seven synagogues there. Each one came from different epoch, so they make very diverse but amazing impression. Kazimierz is really beautiful district with original atmosphere.
Warsaw
Main part of Warsaw sightseeing is a visit in the Old Town and admiring Royal Castle, charming tenement houses and remains of late medieval fortifications with barbican. After World War II Warsaw was almost completely ruined, but when war has ended Polish authorities immediately started to reconstruct the city. Nowadays is simply unbelievable that all of those breath-taking monuments has been destroyed and built from the beginning. Warsaw Old Town makes one of a kind impression.
Second great attraction of Warsaw is Royal Baths Park, complex of palaces and greenery, built by order of king Stanislaw August Poniatowski. Royal Baths include great amount of historical buildings, statues and other objects. This is the favorite place of Warsaw inhabitants strolls. For the biggest attention here deserve Łazienkowski Palace, amphitheatre, conservatory, Ujazdowski Castle and Belvedere.
Another amazing place connected with Polish kings in Warsaw is Wilanow Palace, summer residence of king Jan III Sobieski. In the palace there is amazing exhibition of baroque portraits and royal interiors. For great attention deserves royal garden. Wilanow Palace is one of the few Warsaw monuments which survived World War II untouched.
