Shock and disbelief, these were first reactions for information about crash of Polish presidential plane and 96 victims, among who was our president Lech Kaczynski with wife. News about this unbelievable tragedy get around Poland on Saturday morning.

Polish plane has been flying with 96 passengers - government representatives, military commanders, church dignitaries and the most important, president of Poland. They flew to take part in celebrations of 70th anniversary of Katyn Crime. Plane has crashed on 10th of April at 8:56 am on the Smolensk Airport. We still don’t know the main reason of tragedy, probably it was a pilot mistake, he decided to land in spite of bad conditions. Another important question is: why so many members of Polish elite has been flying in one plane?

Poles still can’t reconcile with the loss of president and other very important people. Many countries, especially Russia expressed their solidarity with Poland in this hard time. Government of Russia does much more than anyone could expect, this horrible tragedy has an influence on improvement of relations between Russia and Poland.

On Sunday, 11th of April, plane with the president’s coffin landed in Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw. After mourning ceremony, coffin has been transported to President Palace. In funeral procession took part thousands inhabitants of Polish capital city. Many of them gather in the area of palace, they lighted the candles and put the flowers. Funeral of Lech Kaczynski will happen in Saturday 17th of April.

From 10th to 17th of April national mourning is staying in Poland. All entertainment places are closed and events are cancelled or delayed. Many other countries also announced the mourning to show their solidarity.
