On the 27th of January, 1945, the Soviet troops arrived at the gates of Auschwitz Camp. Even though the Nazis had abandoned the property a week earlier, the view was still terrifying and blood- curdling. Most of the prisoners had been forced to join a march of death to the Bergen-Belsen Camp in Germany.

Commemoration of 72nd Anniversary of WWII outbreak began yesterday with half-an-hour reconstruction of the Battle of Westerplatte. The battle started on 1 September, 1939 at 4:45 A.M. 182 Polish soldiers fought 3500 German soldiers for 7 days.

They play every year from 1993 and since that time they raised almost 400 million zlotys (85 million pounds). This money saved uncountable number of lives. This year they are playing for a 19th time and collecting money for children with nephrological and urological diseases. As every year 2nd Sunday of January will be marked by the little read hearts with the sign of Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity – the biggest charitable foundation in Poland.

Along with the progress of National Stadium’s building, merchants from “Europa” Market have to replace their businesses. History of trade around the stadium is inextricably connected with Warsaw. Presidential Elections in Poland are ongoing. First round on last Sunday showed us who have the biggest chances to become the most important person in our country. The winner is Bronisław Komorowski with 41,5% of votes. His main opponent Jaroslaw Kaczynski get 36,5% of votes. It means that due to Polish constitution second round of elections will be conduced. Poles will go to the ballot-boxes second time on 4th July.

Situation is going back to normal. Water level in many places is still over danger point, but there is no risk of breaking the embankments and serious flooding bigger cities. Culmination waves on Vistula and Oder are running down to Baltic Sea. Also the weather is getting better, so now we can say for sure, the flood is gone.

13th March 2010 was a day of 67th anniversary of Cracow Ghetto liquidation. To commemorate Jews murdered by Nazis in 1943, the next day the March of Memory was organized. Over 500 people celebrated anniversary of World War II tragically event, by marching trough the area of ghetto to reach Ghetto Heroes Plaza and pray for those who lost their lives in this place. Participants has also put a flowers under the remained fragment of ghetto wall.
