One of the most famous symbols of right Vistula’s bank and the biggest marketplace of eastern Europe is disappearing. Along with the progress of National Stadium’s building, merchants from “Europa” Market have to replace their businesses. History of trade around the stadium is inextricably connected with Warsaw. Giant marketplace always had a lot of supporters as also opponents, but now it’s becoming the history.
“Europa” Market was giving an employment for thousand of capital city’s citizens and immigrants from Asia and Africa. It was a place where you could buy almost everything in very low prices. From the other side it was a source of contraband, illegal articles and petty crime. There is one sure thing – this place was totally unique.
Now tradesman from stadium have to wait until the new trade hall will be opened. Their business will be resumed in the beginning of September, so the possibility of buying cheap stuff from the marketplace won’t disappear at all. But the atmosphere of “Europa” Market won’t come back. Many Warsaw citizens will recall with the tear crowded alleys and noisy stalls of the marketplace around the stadium.
