The sign “Arbeit Macht Frei”, from the gates of extermination camp in Auschwitz has been stolen on Friday, 11th of December. This information caused shock and indignation all around the world.
„Arbeit Macht Frei” („Work Makes Free”) - a sign from the Auschwitz gates, it’s a mostly known symbol of Nazi war crimes during the II World War and also invaluable historical monument of Poland. Police have immediately started an investigation and established that it was an ordered robbery. Many international services have declared the will of help.
After a week of searching Polish police found the sign and captured five suspect people. Three of them pleaded guilty and confirmed that they was operating for order of unknown foreign customer. The trials led to Sweden. Thanks to Swedish services and testimonies of suspects, prosecutor was able to ascertained identity of probably principal of this shocking robbery. Swedes have disclosed his name - Anders Hoegstroem.
Heogestroem is admitting that he was taking part in this crime, but he is denying that he was the main principal. He has contacted with Polish police by the mediator, but he didn’t give his self to Swedish neither Polish authorities. Now he is wanted with European warrant.
