Czestochowa & Wadowice Tour

Why this tour & what you will see?

Poland, being one of the most Catholic countries in world and the homeland of John Paul II, possesses awe-inspiring religious heritage with its centre in Czestochowa and Wadowice. This tour is the best way to discover the most significant religious sites in Poland and to see with your own eyes that catholicism plays a crucial role within the Polish society. Every year Czestochowa is visited by millions of believers from all corners of the world, who fold their hands in prayer to ask for blessing and health.

In your programme:

Jasna Gora Monastery

The tour’s main part is one of the most important religious places in Poland - Czestochowa, with famous Jasna Gora Monastery. For centuries, this has been a place of pilgrimages of people from all around the world. Thousands of worshippers come here every year to pray for the blessing of St Mary. Many people believe that the icon of Black Madonna (known also as The Blessed Virgin from Czestochowa) has miraculous healing powers which can help faithful people overcome their problems.

Jasna Gora is also a very important place for Polish culture and has one of the most beautiful monuments of sacral art in our country. The siege of Jasna Gora during Swedish occupation in 1655 is one of the most famous battles of Polish military history.

Black Madonna Icon

Every corner of the monastery is worth seeing. Of course, everyone has to see the icon of Black Madonna. Other amazing places in monastery are: the National Memory Chapel, the Chamber of Holy Virgin, and the treasury which includes amazing liturgical vessels, beautiful jewelry and gifts for the Blessed Lady from those who, thanks to her, has recovered or survived hard times.

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska

Next point of this tour is Kalwaria Zebrzydowska with St Mary’s Sanctuary situated next to Czestochowa, the main place of Marian and Christ’s Passion’s cults.

Czestochowa & Wadowice Tour - Wadowice Church

The last place of this tour is the city of Wadowice - the hometown of Pope John Paul II. In Wadowice, you will see the house where John Paul II was born. Nowadays, it functions as the Pope’s Museum. While you’re there, you simply have to taste a famous fondant - the Pope’s favourite cake.

Unfortunately we went to Czestochowa on Sunday and it wasn?t good idea. Church was extremely crowded and we had to wait in a long queue to see Black Madonna. Thankfully our guide was very knowledgeable so waiting wasn't so boring. If you provide such great guides for every tour I would recommend you to anyone! We really enjoyed Wadowice, it's very peaceful and relaxing place
